Does anyone have a general rule of thumb for using crushed grains?

More specifically, I purchased a kit from the local supply store. They crushed my steeping grains on-site. That was about 3 weeks ago. Do the crushed grains start to lose their integity after a period of time? How long do I have before those crushed grains are no longer viable? The grains have stayed in a bag in a dry, dark area. What would be my biggest concern?

Thanks,
Ninkasi

A month is about the limit before crushed grains will start getting stale. You can still use them, just add lots of hops. Freeze the grain if you need to wait any longer.

I will freeze the grain since I can't get to it for a few more weeks.
