The local brewery contracts with a farmer in the area to grow Cascade each year. A couple of weeks in advance the picking day is announced and several people show up to pick. The brewer brings beer and everyone gathers around the tables to strip vines.

This year's harvest was down a bit due to an early hailstorm and cooler than average weather this summer (global warming at work?). This years harvest netted 49 lbs of hops and $250 for the farmer. We had about 15-20 people and we were finished in about an hour and a half. A lot of work on everyone's part but, hopefully, the IPA will be worth it.

That's $5/lb WET, I assume.

Those plants look a lot like mine this year. I had a freeze in June, followed by 40F lows most of July.
