You need something to make the dark text stand out from the background. I've always used stroke in photoshop. An alternate solution would be to make the text lighter.

That stroke effect was exactly what I was thinking. Black Border, with white letters.

Also nothing wrong with adding a solid colour border down the side to put the disclaimer about bottle conditioning, and the brewing info. Don't quote me on this but I think Dogfish does that. Just gives you a strong contrast for the important info.
 
An alternative to the stroke method would be to use a drop shadow... sometimes I use a color that's lighter but not white... so it just helps out the worst parts of the areas without being too obvious. Label looks cool, though!
 
just change the text to a light gray and it' look good.
