i am not sure if this is something that i should just know, or if its listed somewhere,

i searched to no avail.

i am wondering if there is a list of yeasts and the styles they go best with, or the reverse

such as

IPA-yeast name, yeast name, yeast name,

does this make sense?

Here is a chart from white labs for ale yeast View attachment Styles-Ale.pdf

Probably not exactly what your looking for, but its a start.

edit: the best place to find this kind of info is to scour the white labs and wyeast websites. They have alot of info, but sometimes its quite buried.

this is good stuff thanks guys. i cant believe i didnt think of going to the manufacturer website before i posted this.

Mr Malty is a great cross reference between White Labs and Wyeast. If you go the the yeast manufacturers websites, they both have guides.
