I've been tinkering with this recipe, and it will be my first SMaSH and my first use of Citra hops.

I already have 5 oz of Citra pellets (14.5%AA), so I figured I would utilize them all!

13lb Briess Pale Ale Malt
0.5oz Citra [FWH]
0.25oz Citra [:60]
0.25oz Citra [:55]
0.25oz Citra [:50]
0.25oz Citra [:45]
0.25oz Citra [:40]
0.25oz Citra [:35]
0.25oz Citra [:30]
0.25oz Citra [:25]
0.25oz Citra [:20]
0.25oz Citra [:15]
0.25oz Citra [:10]
0.25oz Citra [:5]
0.5oz Citra [flame out]
1oz Citra [dry hop - 7 days]
Safale US-05 yeast

Thoughts?

55-30min additions are wasteful IMO

hit it with a 60min charge or FWH and add the rest after 20min or so

you could also hopburst and just start adding after 20min - citra is high enough AA that you should still be able to get a solid IBU from only late additions

I jujst made a citra pale ale and recomend upping the 10 and 5 min additions for flavour. The Aroma from the dry hops was great but wore off quickly.

Agreed with the above posters. You will love your citra SMaSH as the rest of us do, but save most of them for <20 minutes or so. I usually do a 60 and a 30 minute, but really hit it hard the last 20 minutes, as well as the dry hopping.

Great notes so far....been tinkering, here's what I've come up with;

13lb Briess Pale Ale Malt
0.5oz Citra [FWH]
0.25oz Citra [:60]
0.25oz Citra [:30]
0.5oz Citra [:20]
0.5oz Citra [:15]
0.5oz Citra [:10]
0.5oz Citra [:5]
1oz Citra [flame out]
1oz Citra [dry hop - 7 days]
Safale US-05 yeast

Best showcase for lone Citra IMO is gained by using pellets via this schedule:

FWH
5 (Hopburst)
0 (Hopburst)
DH (0.50 to 0.67 oz. per gallon beer)

That looks pretty rad for sure! I think this schedule is going to get you where you want to be.
