Hy all,

I got a new keg from Cornelius that has this relief valve:

But I can't figure it out how to remove the piece.
In the bottom it has a square hole and everything I tried only seems to damage the plastic.
Any help??

Thanks...

It does look like it simply screws in and screws out.

Probably all gunked up from soda extract. Try soaking on hot water with your favorite cleaner over night, then try.

The only option might be to dig that bad boy out. You'll obviously damage it but if you are replacing, who cares.

I used a socket wrench with no socket attached to do mine. But if it's gunked up with old syrups then soaking is probably your best bet.

I´ve tried my socket wrench but it doesn´t fit. The wrench is smaller than the hole.
I´ll try to soak it and use a seat wrench.
Thanks everyone for the tips, it helped a lot.

1/4" socket, with an extension if you have one. Wrap some electric tape over the square to widen it's dimension so it fits into the PRV more snugly.

After struggling with removing and buggering a bad valve. I built a perfect fitting/tool from these two parts from Home Dept.

I screwed them tightly together so it wouldn't unscrewed while removing the valve.

It fits perfectly into the pressure relief valve and I used with a 1/2 socket on the other end.

It is also now very easy to remove and reinsert pin lock pressure relief valves.

I'll try and post pictures later.
