My Dry Irish Stout was very active for a couple of days then it just stopped. No big deal I thought but I noticed the floating piece in the airlock is not raised at all, as if no CO2 is escaping whatsoever. There isn't any kind of leak as far as I can tell... should I be worried about a stuck fermentation or just RDWHAHB?

:)

RDWHAHB.

I'll bet you used WLP004, right? That sucker is a FAST fermenter. It is probably done, and you could rack it anytime. I'd rack after 6 days.

Typically my primaries go 10 days, but that is either because I'm lazy or busy at work.

Yup, WLP004. Glad to hear a similar experience. I will probably rack it tomorrow then being 6 days. :)

Yes it really is true, some yeast will just skyrocket and ferment out in a few days. For me a healthy starter of 1056 american ale yeast will ferment out in 4-5 days at 65-68 f.
