I have a problem. I mail ordered a Little Kings Cream Ale Kit that the yeast, WLP080 Cream Ale Blend, was DOA. On the site where I ordered it gave the option with the kit of going with Wyeast's Kolsch. If I can go with Wyeast's Kolsch, can I go with White Labs Kolsch, or are they different strains? I have a vial of WLP 029 and I need to brew today.

yeah. cream ale is the american version of a kolsch kind of.

Whenever I make a cream I use Kolsch. I've always use WYEAST and its my "house brew". Orange Cream Kolsch.

*edit* The WLP will be just as good.

Yes, they will be similar. Lighter beers, lager-like ales. You can go to the White Labs webpage and see the exact specs and description - if it were me, I'd brew it up with the Kolsch

Somewhat related, I don't always, but about half the time I lager when I use Kolsch. At about 50 for 4 weeks after it's done in primary.
