Plastic Container for Big Starter

My family just finished off a HUGE container of Puffed Cheese Balls. As I was about to recycle it, I thought "would this make a good vessel for a big starter?". It's a plastic container that has the recycling symbol with a "3" in it. Is this food grade?

Does anyone know if this might act as a decent container to make a big ol' starter?

As an FYI - brewing a small session beer first and then pitching on the yeast cake isn't an option...I don't get a chance to brew too often.

Thoughts about a plastic cheese balls container being a good candidate for a big yeast starter?

#3 plastic is PVC according to this reference. I sounds like it can be made into food grade as well. I am not a big fan of using plastic and it is likely OK. How large is it and how big of a beer are you making?

Have you ever considered a gallon glass jug from apple juice or cheap wine?

aren't cheese balls food ? So I would think they would need to be packed in a food grade container. Plastic is fine for a starter we worry about plastic for long term O2 issues . More O2 in a starter is a good thing

It will hold approximately 6 - 8 liters....I'm making a big Belgian Dark (approx. 1.090 SG)...so I need a big starter.

Makes sense to me...I'm going to go ahead and give it a whirl and report back.
