Oxygen Regulator to CO2

I had a O2 regulator and converted it to CO2 by changing the adapter to fit my CO2 tank.

Any ever do this? It does not seem to be that accurate. When opening the CO2 tank into my 1/6 sanke with a keg coupler Do I need to be concerned about pressure? Can this be dangerous or is that what the check valve is for? How much pressure can the keg handle and is it possible to blow up? I have a 5lb CO2 tank.

honestly afraid to crank it up and blow up.

An O² regulator is designed to control the flow rate not pressure. I believe it's a mistake to repurpose it for CO².
