Have my first hefeweizen in primary right now, been there since yesterday. There is a real aggressive fermentation going on, but the smell coming from the airlock is very strange, cant put my finger on it but it is not like any other beer I've smelled before, any input?

The yeast strains for wheat beers will produce some pretty funky smells, but I'm sure everything is fine. EdWort's apfelwein smells incredibly sulfuric when fermenting, but I'm sure it's not going to taste like sulfur when it's done. :)

I used a weihenstephan yeast when brewing my hefe, and the whole house smelled like bananas for days while it actively fermented.

Yeah I used WL700, The smell is that of sulfur and bananas, I guess I could have done a thread search before I posted a question that has already been answered, but man it stinks
