Decoction Mashing???

Can someone explain to me what is necessary in order to do a correct decoction mash? I just talked to my buddy that read that you are supposed to boil the mash between each step...something to do with hot side aeration. I'm confused :confused:
 
Decootions are not as hard as they seem. Its a good thing to learn.
