When you dry hop, is there anything you're suppose to do with the hops to steralize them? I've dry hopped before without doing anything to the hops and the beer turned out fine; but my last few beers have all turned out bad so I just want to make sure since I'm kind of paranoid right now. I'm using whole hops, in case that makes a difference.

The wonderful and historic value of hops comes in the fact that they are a very powerful, natural antisceptic. Avoid touching them with your hands. Pour them out of a sanitized container directly into the carboy!

It sounds strange I know but there is absolutely nothing to worry about contamination wise when dry hopping.
