I've recently switched to AG and 3 of the 4 recipe's I've used call for more strike/sparge water than my 30qt boil pot can handle.
This weekend on my 4th batch I mashed in 17# of grain with ~5.3 gal of strike water, sparged with 3 gal as per the directions which filled my 30qt pot and I began the 90 min boil. While that was going I sparged again with another 3 gal and collected in a smaller pot and brought to a boil on my stove top for a hot break. As the volume boiled away in my 30qt pot I would add wort to it, I ended up transfering about 2 gal over that way. My final volume was ~6 gal and OG was 1.075.
While I'll probably get something bigger soon this is what I have, any thoughts on if this is good, bad, or will my hop schedule just be completely out of whack doing something like this?
Thanks -
