This was my first crack and I must say, as a very long time boozer, er, experienced expert, this is one fine stout. Nothing special, just good.

1 Munton's Mountmellick's Stout kit
1kg corn sugar
Make it so the O.G.=1.062ish and let her buck. Rack after 3-4 days.
My final yeild was 14 litres of the smoothest, creamiest stout around.

I know this is just a kit, but I know good beer, and this is it. Next time I think I'll use two kits and go for more yield.

Cheers.

I will vouch for Cheyco's Black Death. He shipped me tow. I mean wot. YouknowaddImean...

It's a nice starting point. You've got a good brew, now make it special. Steep some grains (black patent and chocolate malt come to mind), maybe add your own hops (Perle sounds good, maybe a 1/2 oz at boil and 1/2 at 50 minutes in), exchange the corn sugar for a pound of munich or dark liquid malt extract and switch to a liquid yeast strain. Throw it in a secondary fermenter for a week, then prime with 1 1/4 cups DME. It'll blow your mind.
