My plan is to build an all-electric rig, something close to Kal's. I have two kegs and would like a third, but I'm cheap and in a corner of the world where kegs don't come by too often. I could get a 10 gal cooler easy enough. I also have a ~6.5 gal stainless pot from my turkey fryer set.

I've only done 5 gal batches so far, probably not going to go beyond that.

What would you recommend for a set-up? Use the fryer pot as the HLT and a keg for mashing? Get the 10 gal for a mash tun and use kegs for HLT and keggle?

Thanks,
Jim

that depends on how you are planning on maintaining mash temperatures

HERMS or RIMS I would use a keg for MT and the pot for HLT, then you could upgrade your HLT and bump batch size if you wanted

no mash heat I would go with the cooler

Forgot to mention that detail. Am going the herms route.

I was leaning that way - it is going to be the cheaper route. Thanks for the push.
