Lots of pharmacies sell eye glass repair kits with replacement screws. They are usually only a couple bucks.

Meh, toothpick is still holding up and didn't cost me a couple bucks. I'll pick up a kit next time I'm out though.

This weekend I want to go to the arcade and trying to find someone to go with me. I like the one where you sit in the fake race car with a friend and try to win. Then I want to go get my first tattoo. I already sketched what I want, a rock with a flower growing out of it, shades of purple and green. Dark purple rock, green stem and leaves, lavender lily. Will represent my kids, my rock and my flower. Son is my rock and daughter is my flower. And actually the flower will be growing behind the rock(since son came first), but will appear to be growing out of it. Hubby says my plans sound fine to him, but find someone else to go with. I guess I could go by myself and play with random kids at the arcade, but that might seem creepy to parents.

Cool idea for a tat Bobbi. I'm going to get my first "legit" tat soon as well. It's a hop flower that my daughter drew for me.

Green and purple are for my kid's birthstone colors. I must have a tat. Will be so nice to have something about my kids permanently etched on my body. Want it on my right arm. I guess near shoulder, constant reminder of what is really important in life.

Weird. I have been toying with the idea of a tattoo as well. Thinking a B for my name with a S in the top loop for my wifes name and a H in the bottom loop for my daughter.

Dang man I missed my temps big time tonight. I was 4 degrees low but I would rather be low than high since I can draw some water off and boil it bringing it up to temp. I wish I could find a mash calculator that had a no sparge option

Are you sure you don't want to go with just the B and the S? :D

For my tat, I was also thinking about initials. An "M" for my son but blended into the lines of the rock and "A" for my daughter, subtle in the lines of the flower. Together it will spell Ma.

So who here thinks that a function should be added to the forum that would take you to the last page of a thread when returning to a thread that you've already visited? Makes sense to me. And with this constant lag since the upgrade, it would save us all some time.

Rant over, anybody still up? This stout is going down way too easy tonight. :tank:

I'm in the mood for some Primus

It should go to the last unread post. Are you using the beta? that's a trainwreck..

From the regular mobile main screen, open menu and select settings. Change the 'when opening a thread' option. Exit and done.

Bother I forgot to pull my yeast out of the fridge. Oh well going to dump some cold yeast into some warmer than cold wort in a hour or so.

Been trying some new yeast and it tell you it smells different. Still good but different.

It's all good. As long as you pitch cold yeast to warmer wort you shouldn't have anything to worry about, just don't do it the other way around.

Well that is good to know. I have been keeping pints in the fridge and warming them up to pitching temps but heck I will not worry so much now. Well that and I tend to cool the wort way down when I pitch.

Trying out my new fermentation chamber tonight. It is a old chest freezer but I have not got my temp control on it yet. I figure for tonight I will just put a bucket of ice inside it next to the wort. If push comes to shove I can turn it on and cool it down but I really doubt I will need to

I'm not saying you shouldn't pull it out of the frige and let it warm up a little, I do that too. But as long as the yeast experience a warming trend, I wouldn't worry about it if you forget to pull your yeast out of the frige when you normally do.

Oh man rockchucks should be up soon. I do enjoy hunting rockchucks :)
How much rock would a rockchuck chuck if a rockchuck could chuck rock? :rockin:

Or, if you happen to be a bit more sadistic than that...

How many rockchucks would a rockchuckchuck chuck if a rockchuckchuck could chuck rockchucks?

Mmmm a lovely stew. Lots of carrots and onions simmered all day long and they are just tender and great. Tastes kind of like rabbit but not as lean as a rabbit.
Man I love rabbit. It's like chicken but tastier and in general much more flavorful than typical factory-farm-raised hens.

So it's like a rockchuck version of hasenpfeffer?

Gelbbauchmurmeltierpfeffer. Has a nice ring to it, dont'cha think? :ban:

I'm feeling a bit rough this evening, myself. I executed a manual override last night before bed (yak) and I'm ever so grateful for it now... :drunk:
For the last 5 or 10 years, I've taken to such "manual overrides" on the rare occasion I actually feel nausea, especially when it seems a foregone conclusion that the automatic protocols will regardlessly self-initiate at SOME point, inevitably.

Makes arousal (ie consciousness) far more tolerable, far more quickly than even Dramamine possibly could.

We have a dollar store that I will go to and buy cheap reading glasses since I lose mine all the time as well.

I used to love to read. I loved the feel and smell of a book as I was reading it. Now though it is just a pain and I have not been reading as much

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 23, only a few years after being diagnosed with astigmatism. I forget and lose things everywhere, all the time. The money I've lost in coats and jackets alone (by leaving them on a rack, in a closet, or - most frequently - on the back of a chair) is actually upsetting to think about. I have lost count of the number of times I have filled up my car with gas and driving away without closing it's little door/cover, and even putting the cap back on, but for a good while it was more often than not!

That being said, I HAVE to have good glasses with a proper prescription (especially with the added dimension of astigmatism)... lightweight with all the features, like anti-reflective, hydrophobic (ie causing water to bead), and glare/dirt/dust/smudge/scratch/shock-resistant coating(s). Naturally, my sunglasses are also prescription and similarly featured, with the obvious additions of being (very well) polarized and tinted with melanin.

Somehow, I've managed to never lose a pair, even though just about (possibly ALL of) everyone I know that wears glasses has done so, and usually multiple times. And I'm the kind of guy that takes them on and off constantly (in fact, at any given moment it is considerably more likely that I'm not wearing them), and don't even put a tacky string/chain on them, so it's certainly not for lack of opportunity!

I can't think of any better reason that my ADHD magically somehow DOESN'T APPLY to my glasses, so I choose to believe it's the fact that they're so expensive AND easy to lose that always keeps them at the back of my mind. Which would mean, quite ironically, that buying expensive glasses has very likely SAVED me money overall... at the very least, it has most definitely made me "lose" less money.

So that alone makes it worth it for me to buy the pricey custom glasses. The fact that they're totally awesome is just an amazing bonus! :ban: Since I am a total gadget geek, all the features and technology in them is like porn to me. ALSO since I'm a total gadget geek, this whole homebrewing thing has become a VERY expensive "hobby" for me!

So who here thinks that a function should be added to the forum that would take you to the last page of a thread when returning to a thread that you've already visited? Makes sense to me.

It already exists, breh.

It's all good. As long as you pitch cold yeast to warmer wort you shouldn't have anything to worry about, just don't do it the other way around.
This.

Bbl I should have asked mobil or browser. Hbt has been working their own app for android platforms. It is in beta form and has....some issues.
Only just now heard about this (from you) and so had to download it. It has issues, you say? I wouldn't know, and probably won't ever find out. That is one crappy app. Even if it wasn't so damn ugly, happened to be 100% bugs free, and worked entirely as intended, it is just so bad, and lacks so many basic - FUNDAMENTAL, even - features, that I wouldn't wish forcing the use of that app on my greatest enemy.

I guess I will just continue to use the ForumRunner-based HBT app that I have always used. Yeah, it lacks a few features I'd like to have (ones that come to mind are options to view some degree of text formatting and signatures, delete replies, view animated .gifs, and - really the only one that actually matters to me - to follow links to HBT threads and posts WITHIN the app rather than sending it to your browser), but it's not so bad that another app is desperately needed, and certainly not one as horrible as that. It just isn't that problematic... I would seriously prefer to be waterboarded every single time I make a post on this original app than have to use that "new" one. Yeah I know it's supposed to be a beta version, but there is not a single redeeming quality to it that I could find to suggest that it could ever possibly evolve into something even remotely usable.
I'm not saying you shouldn't pull it out of the frige and let it warm up a little,

If you're not, then I guess I should.

"You shouldn't pull it out of the frige [sic] and let it warm up a little."

Pitch yeast straight out of the fridge. Seriously.

Hmmm... maybe I should start pitching straight from the fridge too. Learn something new every day.

I'm the same as you, Emjay, when it comes to my glasses. The pair I got on now cost me 600 bucks. Anti-glare, and paid for the ultra thin glass so they don't look like old coke bottles. I'm legally blind in one eye, I think anything over 20/200 is legally blind. I still lose them but not for long, when I set them down, I make sure it's a place I'll look first. One time when my glasses were under the free warranty, I asked a friend to drop them by my eye doctor so I could get the nose pieces fixed and she was shocked when the guy just looked at them and said, "Oh, these are BobbiLynn's glasses". She said she couldn't help but laugh and ask how the hell he knew that, all she said at that point was that she was dropping them off for a friend, I didn't even call first. He said "How could I forget her?". I guess I make a scene wherever I go.

I was behind a lady at the grocery store back when I was making good money from my artwork. She didn't have enough money. I was also partially irritated that she was holding up the line, deciding what to put back and I was ready to get out of the store. So I just walked up and swiped my card without even looking at the price, it was $140. She was shocked, the cashier was shocked, everyone behind me in line was shocked. I was hearing, "oh, don't do that, you don't have to do that" Too late, I already did it. Then she started to pull all the money she had in her purse to pay me back, when I counted it later came to about $98.00. I told her not to give me every penny she had, keep a little, but she insisted on giving me everything, even the change on the bottom of her pocket book. I didn't even want any of her $98, I just wanted to get out of the store.

My appointment is for Saturday at 1 PM. A guy named Jay gonna do my tattoo, everyone says he's my man. My friend Sharon is going with me but she doesn't want to go to the arcade first. Said she'll be here about 11 AM with some liquor. I told her I don't need liquor first, but whatever, she can drink it and I'll drive. Heck, maybe she'll get her first tattoo also. I know this is permanent but that's what I want, something permanent. If I'm going to spend my money, I want to spend it on something I can keep.

Kegging took me to another level. It's great.

Just picked up a Danby (DAR440BL) 4.4 cu ft frig to turn it into a kegerator. $156 at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Some great threads on how to mod the insides to fit two cornys (Pin Locks). Perlicks are gonna hurt, but are required. Anybody have a favorite Keg system supplier?

I bought my SS perlicks, shanks, etc on Amazon. Found a pretty good deal there. I forget the vendor, but they had "beer" in their name. It was a combo shank/tap handle/faucet deal. I have 4 on my keezer. I suggest also getting the tap wrench to get the faucets tight on the shanks.

Funny thing. I got a 7 cf freezer that I am going to turn into a keezer someday. Until that day I thought since I already have a temp controller why not use it for a ferm chamber. Well I could not find the temp controller and I brewed last night so I tossed it in with a bucket of ice more or less just to see what happens. Been holding at a constant 58 degrees ever since so I am not going to worry about it. I might have to add ice every 24 hours but who knows.

Funny how something simple can work so good. I think sometimes we over complicate things and make life tougher than need be

I got my stuff from Kegconnection and I was really happy with cost and shipping. I didn't get SS perlicks (I know, I know), because I just didn't have enough money. I'll upgrade some day.

Today I decided I'm going to try kegging some kool-aid to see what it's like carbonated. I love experimenting!

Two liter pop bottles filled with water and then frozen also work really well. But, you just got the ice maker working and it would be wrong not to use it.

Ferment it and I'm there.

I used swamp coolers and swapped out frozen water bottles everyday for a couple years. It became a pain in the arse after a while. Now that I have my ferm chamber I'll never look back!

I thought that was going to be too easy:

Google Search Criteria: site: amazon.com perlick beer
Google Results: About, 1,060,000 results (0.26 seconds)

:drunk:

haha, sorry. Here you go. I don't think it's much better of a deal than what you can get elsewhere, including our vendors here, but I buy a lot of stuff through Amazon.

So it does, never saw that option before. However, brewingmeister and I decided that it should take you to the last unread post. That option does not exist.
Did you mean for the mobile app specifically? You can on regular HBT.

I got to play with my new UHF remote adapter. It's really cool.

Plug it all in, charge the batteries that came with it. Install the RF transmitter in place of one of the batteries of the remote you want to work RF. Done. Now it's an RF remote. No programming, nothing. You can still walk in the room and use the remote as normal, no doubling of remote commands. The base, or the IR pulser attached to it, does need to be in line of sight to the components.

I have no idea how this thing works. The RF transmitter is in place of a battery. So, it can't possibly be getting the IR pulse from the remote. Honestly though, I don't care that much. It works perfectly.

It must be measuring the current draw from the batteries during the IR pulses. Interesting gadget. I wish I needed something like that.

Go for it!

General question: What?

Guy question: Where?

You can choose to answer all or none.

A rock and a flower to the first question. On my upper right arm/shoulder area to the second question. I want to be able to see it on my right arm as a constant reminder of what is important. The rock will represent my son, who joined the Navy at age 17, with my signature to allow it, and the flower, a purple lily to represent my daughter. Purple and green, which is their birthstones, and an "M" and and an "A" for their initials. Spelling Ma. But not a blatant M and A, but hidden in the lines/details of the rock and flower. Something realistic, a flower growing behind a rock(since my son came first), but made to look like the flower could be growing out of the rock. My rock, my flower, my kids. I love them and miss them now that they are both off to college in other cities. Empty nest and now hubby can't even get treatment, he is not well enough. But our eggs are due to start hatching the next 2 days. Some chickens, my dog loves chicken, it's his favorite.

I am going to ramble some more since it is "this time at night".

At night is when I worry about everything. Well, during the day too. But mostly this time of night when I should be sleeping. Going to hop on youtube and listen to some depression era music. It's just hard to be happy when all the things I love are going away. But, I am happy for my son, and I am happy for my daughter, they are going places. Hubby is going to a new place too. I will just be happy for them all and stop being sad for myself. That's selfish of me. Tattoo is selfish too but I don't care. Some ladies like to get their hair or nails done to feel better, I want a tat. Must have it so it will happen. I better brew tomorrow to calm down. Hubby won't take his new "anti-mean" pills. I called the nurse already, just refusing to take and trying to make him do it is only making him angrier. He is at a stage in this game we call life. This is his anger stage and we will get through this with flying colors. I know it.

Eureka! Of course. The primary power draw from an IR remote is the IR emitter. Every time you emit a remote pulse code you mirror the IR pulse in the power draw on the batteries. All the transmitter has to do is echo the power draw as an RF pulse. That's freaking brilliant!

I know what you mean. I remember how my Mother was when she was getting treatment for cancer. She's a 7 time cancer survivor. Each time she would have periods of incredible emotional instability, while simultaneously claiming no such thing was going on. It can be hard to take.

BL,

It was a flipant question, but a totally cool answer. I suspected there was some thought and a great story in it. Thanks.

When I am in this kind of mood, you can't ask a flippant question and not expect a whole story@! :mug:

I love you guys. :tank:
