hops and frost question

so this buddy of mine tells me he has a huge hop vine in his yard ,and i can have at er.The only problem I have is I don't know if it's too late to pick them.they probably had a good frost or too by now ,and I really don't know if that's good or bad.Can anyone help me out here ?
 
Picking the cones after they turn brown will yield some lupulin, but they lose some flavor.

I would wait until spring to prune rhizomes after you see shoots. They will start to grow in early spring.

thanks I'll do that for next year,swmbo is planning a new backyard anyways:D:DI'm sure I can get in a few hop vines:mug:
