QD and pump not working

I have a keggle that is converted with a false bottom. There is a quick disconnect attached. When I go to clip in the QD to the pump nothing comes out and that's with the pump off. I can't get the wort down to prime the pump. If the QD isn't on there it comes out the spout no problem. No clogs. no clue what is going on. Can anyone help!?!?!
 
Can you describe how your pump is plumbed? And, in particular, do you have any way to vent air out of the system at the output side of the pump, so you can flood the impeller housing using gravity drain from the kettle?
