Hi all....I know this may sound like a stupid question, but here goes.

I am visiting my mother and while poking around in a closet I came across an enamel canning pot...(21 qt). Right now I can only do 3 gallon brews, so I was wondering....can I use this enamel pot to boil in? I ask because I can't recall seeing that anyone uses one on this site. Thanks

I did my first three partial-mash beers with an enamel pot. It is now my mash water pot.

Just be careful with your metal implements, it will easily chip the enamel, then they rust real fast.

+1 to the above. As long as it doesn't have any chips, it will work fine. My first several batches were also brewed in an enamel canning pot.

I've used them over the years for everything from mashing to heating sparge water. As smizak said, take care not to chip them and they are just fine.
