Ok so I'm only 4-5 batches into my new found love and I'm a little curious about what's the benefits of steeping grain and adding the extract to boiling 2, 3, 4, or 5 gallons.

Obvious answer is its quicker to cool but is there any added flavor to be had if you boil the whole 5 gallons vrs 2-3??

Thanks

My understanding is with full volume boils you get better hop utilization, and I imagine it makes calculating your ibus easier

As far as steeping grains, it will impart color and flavor that you won't find from pure extract beers. Once you start steeping, making the jump to partial mash brews will be easy and seem natural.

The downside to steeping and partial mash is you will add up to an hour to your brew day
