I figure I'll try a couple of PM batches for some practice, then jump in to AG. When I get my next paycheck I'm off to the hardware store for all of the necessary parts. Wish me luck!

I personally say skip the PM and go straight for it. In the long run, you will probably save money by not have to get "bigger" of the same equipment you all ready have for PM. And on top of that....its just better. You will start designing beers recipes and from that process, you realllly start to learn about beer: the different styles and flavors and why and how they come about. You will also feel a liberation by not having to rely on beer syrup. I applaud your ambition, go for gold.
