I had a dream about brewing an AG batch last night. As an extract brewer (so far) I take this as a sign from the beer gods to build a MLT and take the next step.

I figure I'll try a couple of PM batches for some practice, then jump in to AG. When I get my next paycheck I'm off to the hardware store for all of the necessary parts. Wish me luck! :mug:

If you build it......the beer will come.....and so will your mooching friends and their friends and so on.

Cheers

Last night I dreamed I was a male stripper. This morning when I looked in the mirror....

My great big gut was still there. I just went to my regular job.

All kidding aside, go for it. You gotta take it as far as it will go or you'll lose interest.

...and it will be cheaper to make.

...once you buy all the equipment ;)

It's a virus, I swear! I said the same thing, and now I have my own mill, all kinds of crazy gadgets, a 14cf keezer...

It's been anything but cheaper...but it's a hell of a lot of fun :ban:

Me too C.O....just not as soon as you. I have been slowly collecting metal for my frame, and I recently acquired 3 full size kegs to use.

Good Luck!

I personally say skip the PM and go straight for it. In the long run, you will probably save money by not have to get "bigger" of the same equipment you all ready have for PM. And on top of that....its just better. You will start designing beers recipes and from that process, you realllly start to learn about beer: the different styles and flavors and why and how they come about. You will also feel a liberation by not having to rely on beer syrup. I applaud your ambition, go for gold.

Only do a PM if your budget won't let you go AG yet. As far as cost....just get a large grain bag. That is the only equip you need to do PM's and they are much better than just extract, and give you a scratch at the AG process.
