Hello... here's my situation. I just bought all the ingredients to brew the caramel cream ale, but I'm thinking that since this will be my first brew I'd probably be better off ordereing a gold label kit from AHS and do that first rather than possibly ruin all these great ingredients. Now, my question is, can I freeze the hops so they won't go bad? Also, how long will all the other stuff (DME, lactose, Irish Moss) stay good?

Thanks!

Yes - you can freeze hops. As long as you keep DME dry it's good for a LONG time - lactose too.

Freezing hops and cracked grains is a very good idea. The loss of bittering ability is dramatically reduced by freezing.

Interesting. I might have to move my hops out of the fridge and into the freezer now.
