I just brewed a cream ale that was supposed to have an OG of 1.042-1.046. Right now I'm sitting at 1.091!!! I've spun it several times but its always the same. I guess there is the tiny chance that I need to add more water (I don

Nevermind, I figured it out as I was typing the post. I ran to fix it but when I came back to delete what I was writing, it had somehow posted on its own.

The problem was that I took my sample from the pot before I added water. OG is actually low from the real sample

With extract you have to do something really wrong to get an actual OG more than a point from the calculation. Basically, if you follow the instructions you'll get what you ordered. It's common to get poorly mixed samples when brewing from partial boils. It's harder than you'd think to get a homogeneous mix.
