Hi all,

Perhaps we have been a little bit too productive with the brewing lately. I seem to have forgotten that I need three airlocks for three batches of beer! Would it be so bad to put a blowoff hose-type "airlock" setup on a batch when I transfer it to secondary? I mean, it doesn't let any air in anyway, right?

Your feedback & experiences with this would be great, thanks!

Should be fine, but prolly better off putting the blow off on a primary, and moving an airlock to the secondary :)

When I go to my brite tank, I usually crash the temp from 65-70 to 34 F or so.
If you put an airlock on, as the air in the headspace cools, it will suck down your airlock.
I take a paper towel soaked in vodka and place over the hole in the top of the fermenter.
Then, 24 hours later (or more), I replace with an airlock (filled to the mark with vodka).
Vodka won't ruin a beer, iodophor may give some off flavors.
