This is pretty much my first All-Grain recipe. Until now, I have been using strictly tried and true recipes I've found on here with great results, but I could not find a pumpkin stout recipe, so I went off the board a little bit. This is a modified version of CBBaron's Smooth Oatmeal Stout recipe. Any feedback for a novice brewer on this recipe? I am expecting somewhat low efficiency, so I might do just enough to keg. Ideally I have some leftover for a few bottles after filling my cornies. Should I boost it up with a bit of DME? 4.0 is a bit low, but I am crossing my fingers for more than 70% efficiency. Thoughts on that? I think it will be interesting to find a balance between the pumpkin and hops. This is my second pumpkin beer, but I am still waiting to see how the first one turned out. Another issue is that I have never had a commercially produced pumpkin stout, so I am not sure what to expect.
