Hello,
Just looked in the fermenter for my first attempt at Raw Ginger Ale and saw this. Is it ruined/infected? anyone else seen this before?

Oh yeah. That's a massive infection. Some infection expert should be along any time to say exactly what kind it is.

The trouble with ginger is that it *can* cause an infection if not sanitized properly. I've only ever done Ginger Ale (soda) so I've never handled it when it could create a problem.

You might consider boiling some ginger shavings or slices in a small amount of water and adding it all to the brew. This should effectively sanitize everything.

I've also heard of soaking in alcohol (vodka) or even soaking in starsan to help sanitize.
