What thermostat would you recommend, I am kinda on a budget but don't want to buy a POS. Is there any major advantage of digital over analog other than the convenience of digital?

I have a ranco controller that I found for about $35 on eBay. It's digital and I like that I can just punch in a temp and that's where it goes..... I'm sure either will work fine though......

If you know how to do some basic wiring. You will need an outlet and project box and some wire another $10 worth. I believe it is in Celsius but that is easy to figure out just set it once and your good to go.

The nice thing about this is it has two outputs. So you can set also set it up to run a lamp in the fridge as well. Set the unit so that it will turn on the lamp if it is too cold, freezer if its too hot. I don't have one of these yet but have one coming on a slow boat from China. I will be using it in my HLT. I do have a friend that uses these in a variety of functions and has good results.

I use this to control my fermenter.

the Chinese one is similar but much cheaper. The Dwyer has the advantage to be able to monitor two sensors and two outputs. Which will allow you to possibly run a second fridge, freezer or a fan off the freezer to pump cold air into an alternative chilled container with the same switch or control heat and cold in one unit as well.
