So I'm goin to try a beer with root beer extract. This will be a partial mash 1 gal experiment.
I'm not sure what to call the base beer, but here is what I have so far:
1lb 8oz Light dme
1lb 4oz Brown Sugar
3oz C10
3oz Honey Malt
2oz Chocolate Malt

Hops:
.1oz (2.8g) magnum 60 min
.05oz (1.4g) simcoe 10 min

US 05

Secondary:
1 Madagascar Bourbon bean

Bottling:
Root beer extract. Start with a tbsp and go from there
Lactose sugar 3-4oz to taste.
Prime with Honey

OG 1.106
FG 1.029
10.2% ABV

I should mention I'm going to do a side by side comparison with a hard root beer I found on this forum.

Im not using watkins next time. The minty, cheap flavor comes through way too much. Im going to hunt down root beer roots and give this another go in the future.
