I wanted to try yeast washing and i couldnt find any new mason jars. Most of my old ones were used for pickling and the covers still have that sent.My question is will boiling for 20 minuets remove any bacteria still there even if they still smell or is it too risky not to use new jars?

I went to three different places it seems they only sell them in season.I wasnt sure if the vinager would be cleaned from boiling because they still smell after a 20 min boil? I guess ill try it anyway. Thanks

If they still smell I would not use them as it may affect the flavor. I do reuse some lids but soak in Oxyclean for weeks before cleaning and boiling in water.
