Hi everyone! I'm a first time brewer, but I decided that if I was gonna do it, I'd better do it right. I've read and re-read "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" and decided to skip the kits and go straight for my own concoction! It's going to be a vanilla porter. I brewed last night and 6 hours later she's already pretty active! Pretty excited about it, I'm going to rack onto a couple of Madagascar Vanilla Beans for flavor. I've got some old priming sugar that my dad got with his kit that he never brewed. They are sealed and I've read other posts where people have said that sugar won't go bad... any second opinions to ease any worries? Thanks!

Your sugar is fine. make sure to boil it for ten or so minutes before priming.

Congrats on your first brew! I think I only ever brewed one kit. It's so much more fun getting to know ingredients and putting your own potions together.

Now don't drink it all before it's ready, OK? :mug:
