I used the following at the weekend for my first brew.

Coopers Real Ale hopped LME 1.7kg
Amber DME - 1.25kg
Safale US-05 yeast - 11g

I should have read more threads on here before making this beer. I thought that because I was using hopped extract I could get away without adding hops. Now I've read posts describing similar attempts as undrinkable.

Anyone got an idea of how this would taste ? Should I expect it to be like an English ale or will it just taste bland or really malty ?

It's not worth worrying about now.

I have never done a pre-hopped kit, so I can't comment on the flavor.

You can most certainly dry hop if you would like to.

I'd say wait it out and see how the flavor develops. If it's too malty or bland for your taste, it's a teaching aid, and you will know to hop the next one a little more. Just my 2¢

If you do dry hop the brew, keep in mind that it will add flavor and aroma, but no bittering because the hops will not be isomerized. So if the beer ends up being too malty or sweet, dry-hopping will not change that.

That being said, I always recommend dry-hopping! :)
