South Jersey Beercrafters Is Closing

On September 15th "Beercrafters" in Turnersville, NJ will be closing for good. I was told a sale will start on the first on September.

Wow, that sucks. Any idea why?

The owner has a full time job, and so do all the people that work there. It probably s just not bringing in enough money anymore to keep it up.

Home / craft / microbrewing in the U.S. has been in a state of growth and great change in the last few decades, as I'm sure everyone reading this knows. Such a state of flux is always accompanied by goings as well as comings....this is what is happening here.

Our local experience bears this out. 15 years ago, we had two microbreweries. They disappeared about 10 years ago, and I've never heard an explanation why. Difficult to comprehend, since it's a large college town (U of I at Champaign-Urbana). There was NO LHBS until a big chain liquor store opened a few years ago (Friar Tuck's) and offered a line of homebrewing supplies. Now we have no fewer than TWO microbreweries that are opening this Fall, in the middle of a recession. Go figure.

There'e really nothing in their forum either...I wonder if they're having a going out of business sale via the web?

They never updated that wesite. The forum is mostly porno links. I don't think they had an online store at all.

Where will we go for beer gas?
