and probably BEST batch so far. It was a samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Took the reading just before bottling and it was at 1.013 and then promptly drank the sample. DAMNED good beer in that tube. I cant wait to get hold of it with carbonation. Since this one was fermented in the LBK from my Mr. Beer kit, I used carbonation drops rather than corn sugar. Didnt want to disturb the massive amount of trub at the bottom of the LBK.
When i opened the keg, it had a fruit smell but no fruit taste at all. Just pure STOUT with a little hops. I am thinking the fruit smell was left over from my first batch with the Mr. Beer kit. That batch was a smorgasborg of banana and bublegum. It simply sucked! The beer that I bottled was like mana from heaven coming out of the LBK.
This was also my first partial mash. cant wait to try it with carbonation!
