OK so I'm looking to upgrade my all grain setup and have been looking into RIMS. It seems that most peoples concern with it is caramelizing the wort. What I'm wondering is why it's a concern here, when we're going to boil the wort later anyway. Is it the grain getting in the system that would cause the problem?
 
Im running 4500W in a 12"x 1.5" RIMS HEX. No issues. Being able to maintain flow is the key. If the mash sticks and the pump can't move anything you're going to be busy.
