Not just the consuming but the reading about techniques in the quest for perfection or as close as we can get. The seeking out of a recipe that strikes me as "the one for me". Or researching to death a certain piece of equipment that I'd like to have. Thankfully the other obsession is bicycling and not cars!

I am pretty sure I think about getting setup with kegs and a fridge more than I do of actually consuming the beer from it.

Yeah, this has quickly become a huge obsession for me. I blew off work today to get some stuff done around the house, but instead, I've been putting together recipes all day...

My very presence on this site says that I probably do. But I've got to think about something and this seems as good a thing as any to think about.

Oh ya. I'm on this site all the time while at work, and then I come home and just get back on. This is an addiction. All I want to do is Brew!

Haha, and I thought it was just me. I was going to seek professional help. I am gona spead to a brewery brewmaster instead of a shrink. Thank you for helping me get back my sanity HBT:drunk:

I obsess so much when my work restricted access to this site as part of their new block anything entertaining from the network policy, I set up a php proxy on my home pc so I can still come here and post

plus, I have more books on brewing than anything else combined.

yes, I obsess

The best part of this obsession is that SWIMBO told me to find a hobby so it's all her fault.

I've also noticed that this obession spreds like a virus. Since infecting me it has attacked by brother-in-law and a few of my good friends. Just invted them over once to watch/help a brew session and they were hooked.

Good for you infecting family and friends! Mine think it's cool and come help out from time to time, obviously drink any of it they can get their hands on, but haven't really jumped on board so I decided to join the local home brewers club just to get more involved with other brewers and will be attending my first meeting this coming Saturday :fro:

I sometimes pull up a chair and just watch a carboy ferment (Like a stoner watching a lava lamp). I like to sniff airlocks. There is always a copy of some book about brewing in my briefcase. I check HBT before my emails. The produce section at the store is just beer experiments waiting to happen. Yard sales are disapointing if there is no brew equipment for sale. I dream of the perfect home brewery while I am working. Plumbing supplies have a whole new purpose. Beer porn is better than real porn.

YES!!!! I Went form a Mr. Beer to a full 5 galon kit and propane bruner all in about one month.

Well said mate, well said. :mug:

More than I should? Hell yes.

I bet I spend at least 12 hours a day thinking about beer/brewing. It's gotten so bad now, I actually enjoy brewing the beer more so than drinking it; I started brewing small batches so I can brew more often. I'm brewing a 4 gallon batch about every 10 days. And since I started getting serious about competitions, it's become even worse. :D

Hilarious! The family says the same thing to SWMBO. My just wife hangs her head and says, "what was I thinking when I got you a brew kit that Christmas. Look what I've started."

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.......lol. I don't sleep that well and my wife gives me a bunch of crap because half the time I'm up in the middle of the night thinking about brewing. Hey, it's the only piece and quiet I get with twin 18 month old boys. lol

when i do remember my bad dreams they are always about infections or off flavors

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! I think about brewing all the time, more about the brewing, and not as much about the beer, although the beer is a good result! People at work laugh because I'm always talking about brewing. Shopping has become an all new experience for me!

Yep, wife gave me the Mr Beer kit a couple Christmas' ago figuring that it would end in a month or so. Boy was she wrong. 5 gal batches, all grain, kegging, when will it stop. :cross:

Similar problem here. I'll sit down at the computer and if windows is running on my iMac I'll pop open beersmith and screw around with recipes I have no intention of executing for months, instead of working on projects.

note the time of the OP and a majority of the posts. we really should be working people. who has lost sleep due to the excitement of the upcoming brewday? or worried about process afterwards? or what they could have done differently?

Just me??

Absolutely. So much so that I love to talk about it with friends except they quickly lose interest about mashing and temperatures and MLTs and HLTs and malts and yeasts and label me a beer snob.

I hug my fermenters when I get home for work. I usually just give the apfelwein carboy a tap on the airlock rather than a hug. He's my red-headed step-child. :D

This will be the worst next 3 months for me. No brewing. Or at least very little. This is my busy time of year at work, tax season. But will be a great April 19th! My fridge is fully loaded and ready to go.

Yup

All I could think about today was whether or not my Porter was gonna take off today, so the first thing after walking through the door was go check to see what kind of activity was going on... things look good!

And here was I thinking it was just me!

Well, I had put it down to the fact that I'm new to the hobby and reckoned that this is just a passing phase, but now you guys have me worried!

Ah, another carboy hugger. It's good to know you're not alone!

And yes I think about brewing almost as much as I think about sex!

I see im not the only one who likes sniffing the airlock. I just love to sit there and watch it bubble. My wife gets a kick out or the sound effects I make when I see a bubble in the airlock.

hilarious.. it is kind of a read headed step child isnt it... Mine certainly was when I came home to krausen in the airlock.

Between building my all-grain setup for this spring, brewing beer, drinking beer, reading HBT during my free time, and now with the HBT app (which means reading HBT on the train and the sh!tter)...yes, I do think about brewing too much. :D
