I will be traveling to Baton Rouge for business this afternoon. Are there any must try local beers around here?

LA 31 Biere Noire is better than the Biere Pale, IMO. Most of Bayou Teche's beers are good, though. Find their Cocodrie if you can. Floatilla is great but only available at the brewery and at the Avenue Pub in NOLA. They actually used to contract with Lazy Magnolia until they had their brewery online. The couple of times I've had LA-31, which made in LA but not by Abita, on tap it was very good as well. IIRC, it is made with Belgian malts and American hops and ale yeast to be sort of a hybrid pale ale.
Southern Pecan should be easy to find. Jefferson Stout isn't bad either. It is not made that far away in lower Mississippi but if you can find some Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan on tap it might be worth a try. They also make an, imo, too expensive bourbon barrel aged version of the pecan ale called Southern Gentleman which I liked but not enough to pay $9 a pint again for it.
I will actually be staying at la'berge. I have heard of the southern pecan and I would like to try it. Any good beer at the casino? Any opinion on the best IPA I am always looking for one of those.
It has a large selection. The Cove doesn't have as many taps, but typically has more unique/rare stuff. There's typically a cask tapping on the second Wednesday of the month (during our homebrew club meeting) from one of the regional breweries.I have heard of the pelican house. It sounds awesome
Never been to L'Auberge, but quite possible they would have NOLA Hopitoulas and Abita Jockamo. Unfortunately, there's nothing really by that casino. It's too bad you're not at one of the hotels in the College/Corporate area, because both The Pelican House and The Cove are right there.
