I left one for 4 months. Just don't leave it out in a 90 degree garage and you will be fine.

I had one is primary for 6 months. It turned out fine.
I've got one going on three months and I thought it tasted good. I plan on transferring it and adding some wine conditioner to sweeten it. Most people I know like sweet wines.
