I'm going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and want to go to some good beer bars. Anybody got suggestions?

Not sure on bars, but Trader Joe's had a bunch of good stuff AND ON SALE when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

IIRC Todd English P.U.B had a pretty good selection. A little pricey but not bad. It's located @ The City Center Shops which is somewhere around The Aria I think.

I just looked it up, It's the Shops at Crystals

We just got back from Vegas this past Monday. We drove to Big Dogs Brewery. They have a decent selection but its probably a half hour away, not bad if you get a rental like we did. I liked the Wardog IPA. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3098

We also went to Ellis Island Brewery/Casino/Restaurant which you can walk to. It's about a block east of the strip, behind Paris I think. Beer was so so, but the steak and eggs for breakfast was good at about $6. It's kind of a hole in the wall but the food was good.

On a side note, if you get a car and want a scenic drive, try driving to Mt. Charleston and Red Rock. Mt. Charleston, you can drive to 8,000 feet and it dropped 30 degrees otw up. It's free, Red Rock was $7/car.

Your not gonna have time for a good beer at a good bar. When the waitress walks the casino floor yelling "cocktails" just ask "What do you have for a dark beer?" Deal with it and go. My girl & I will hit 10 different places in a night. Checking things out.

Chicago brewing in the 4 queens casino & hotel. If your gonna be in old town off Freemont st.

The Pub in Monte Carlo is awesome! The have over a hundred beers on tap and even more in bottles. My wife and I ended up there nearly every night we were there.

I'll second Public House although I thought it was a bit expensive. Most bottles were $7-8 and the draft pours were only 10 oz I think. That was for fairly standard IPAs, nothing crazy strong that I would expect to come in a tulip or other smaller pour.

What the hell does Trader Joe's have to do with beer bars in Vegas?

Not really worth commenting, but what I was saying is that I was able to score some good craft brews there. I DID say "not to sure about bars". I was only stating that I was surprised to find some good beer to take back to the hotel to relax with.

Thank you.

Aces and Ales near Sam's Town is great. Good staff. Talk to the owner for some off the menu beers if he's around.

Tenaya Creek (north of the strip, just off 95) makes some good stuff.

Money Plays on Flamingo is a neat dive with a surprisingly diverse selection.

Khoury's, toward Henderson, sometimes hosts some tasting events.

Freakin Frog is fun, and the selection is decent, but it's a college joint.

Skip Big Dog's and Chicago.

One of the bars at the Orleans has tenaya creek on tap as well as a microbrew from California. They also 2 offerings from new Belgium brewing. A coworker and I stopped there and worked our way left to right through the 8 beers on tap plus 4 shots of makers mark. Key is to put a $20 in the video poker machine at the bar and play slowly. I cashed out after 2.5 hours with $18 left from my original $20 and we left the bartender a $15 tip. 16 beers and 8 shots for under $20 is a screaming deal in Vegas. There is an all you can eat sushi place 5 minutes away at tropicana and Decatur which rocks for $26. Hard to go wrong with that combo. That is all recent info as I am out here now

Thanks for the suggestions. I"ll have to look to see which are closest to the Golden Nugget. I have go two days to drink a lot of beer.

But walking distance from 4 queens. Up the stairs of the casino floor to the right. Chicago brewery. I need to go back and get another growler.

Was out there for a work convention back in November in Mandalay Bay. Schedule was busy enough that several of the days, we didn't leave Mandalay, and the farthest I made it at any point was New York New York. Want to go back to actually see more than 1/4 mile of Vegas....

But there is a damn good burger joint in between Mandalay Bay and The Luxor (kobe beef burgers) that has Dogfish Head.

Downtown/Fremont Street has Chicago and Triple 777 within walking distance of the Golden Nugget. IIRC there's also a beer-centric bar at The Golden Nugget as well, something like the "International Beer Bar", but I haven't found it when I've been there looking.

My favorites:

- Todd English PUB: happy hour 3-6 and 10-midnight every day (half off pints)
- Main Street station (great pit stop after downtown)
- hofbrau is fun
- sin city in flamingo (beer isn't amazing but you get free drinks while playing video poker)
- burger bar

Freakin Frog has a decent selection? Bahaha they carry over 700 different beers and have the largest selection for a whisky bar on the west coast. It is a college bar but you won't find beer pong here but intellectual college students who mostly attend the UNLV brewing classes that the University offers as a major. This is the place to go to try different beers. Also they only tap some of the rarest brews

+1 on the Yard House. It's been a few years since I've been there, but the food is good, and they used to tout having over 100 beers on tap. I don't think you're going to find a larger selection of beers on tap elsewhere in Vegas.

Yeah, you were right.

We stayed on the strip for the most part so we couldnt get out to the frog or aces and ales but we did spend a good amount of time at the pub in monte carlo. Pretty nice selection there.
