I am a newbie and have only brewed a couple of batches of beer. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Harpoon bottles. They say "no refill" on them. Despite this, is it safe to use them?

"NO REFILL" doesn't have anything to do with usability for homebrewing!

What "NO REFILL" means is that the bottles aren't made to be reused by the brewery. If you pay a deposit on the bottles, when the store (or other return location) takes them back, the bottles glass will be crushed and recycled.

"REFILLABLE" bottles will find their way back to the brewery, be de-labeled, be washed, sanitized, filled, capped, and re-labeled. I don't think that there are that many breweries that use refillable bottles anymore.

Ya, generally refillable bottles are a bit thicker too and can stand up to a bit more, but it's totally fine to reuse them muntiple times for homebrewing
