I have purchased a used 12 gallon stock pot to use for brewing. Is there anything special I should do to the pot to get it brew ready?

if aluminium scrub till it gleams then boil water in twice to season,do not scrub after water boils

if stainless just clean it and degrease it

I'll PM you my address for proper disposal.

As posted, scrub thoroughly, and I would do a good rolling boil or two just as for safe measure.

SOS pad probably most effective, I've used them on SS kettles before. Just make sure you rinse thoroughly, and I would still do a boil in it since you don't know what was in it before.
