How much gravity does 5oz of dextrose add??

I brewed Edworts Ale and the last 3 gravity reading were at 1.020. OG was 1.064. It was in the primary for 3 weeks.Went to take another reading before I bottled and took it after I added the priming sugar. It was 5oz of dextrose into a little over 5 gals. Had a reading of almost 1.030:confused:. Would 5oz make that much differance or do I have bombs ticking?????

5 oz would not make that much of a difference in a gravity reading, that aside what kind of yeast were you using and what was the temp of fermentation?
