I brewed a vanilla cream ale awhile back. Itsunami been in my basement about a month i just cracked one open. It has a really bad grainy aftertaste. Could that mean i mashed the grains to high of temp? from what i remember i think it was a little high.
 
Quite possible. Probably astringency from the grains if you mashed too high, but that would mean around 175 or so. At that temp, you won't get any conversion.
