I know plastic degrades from the acidity, although I'm not sure about why colored glass isn't used either.
Anyway, can I pour the kombucha into a colored glass cup to drink it? Will the cup degrade faster as it is exposed to more acidity? Will a quick rinse afterward make it as good as new?
My kombucha is usually highly acidic because there isn't enough space in the refrigerator.
