The Millenium sparkling wine kit makes 11 and a half litres and says to carbonate with 215g (1 and 1/4 cup) of corn sugar. I got 15x 700ml bottles out of this.

Does anyone think the amount carbonating sugar is really excessive?
I know the designers of this kit sure know more than I do about their product and have suggested the appropriate amount of carbonating sugar, but this I just have to question. Is this a recipe for sparkling wine or home made grenades?
