I plan on brewing later today or tomorrow morning using mostly leftover grains from Skeezerpleezer's Zombie Dust extract clone.
The malt bill looks like this:
6.00 lb Extra Light Dry Extract (3.0 SRM) Dry Extract 70.6 %
1.00 lb Munich Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) Grain 11.8 %
0.50 lb Carafoam (2.0 SRM) Grain 5.9 %
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 5.9 %
0.50 lb Belgian Aromatic (LHBS doesn't carry Melanoidin, subbed this)
Fermenting with S04 (love that flocculation)
Right now here are the hops I have:
8 oz Amarillo pellets
1 oz Citra pellets
3 oz Centennial 2 oz leaf, 1 oz pellets
4 oz Cascade leafs
1/2 oz Warrior pellets
1 oz Magnum pellets
5 oz Falconer's Flight 7C's pellets
I'll be doing a full boil and trying to get nice smooth bitterness with a big hop punch. Here is what I'm thinking so far:
FWH: 1 oz Magnum (IBUs calculated at 20 mins for perceived bitterness)
15 min 1 oz 7C's
10 min 1 oz 7C's
5 min 1 oz 7C's
1 min 1 oz 7C's
dry hop 3oz total--1 oz Centennial leaf, 1 oz Citra, 1 oz Amarillo
Beersmith puts the IBUs at 61, but I hoped using FWH on the Magnum would smooth it out.
I've never really made my own recipe so any advice is greatly appreciated!
