So, I was going to make a pretty hoppy ale á la IPA-ish, but I realized that my 2lb Caramunich addition BLASTED my beer's colour from 9° to 20°, a dark brown. Can this still be an IPA, technically, if the colour is so severely dark? If not, what style would it fall into for all of that dark caramel-y malt?? West coast trippel? Brown ale?

Does it matter?

Not at all

The IBU is 64-ish. I might go higher because of all of the caramel. I read of someone infusing some hop tea because they undershot their IBU's. Supposedly you can't taste over 60 IBUs but I sure seem to find a noticeable difference between 60 and, say, 90.
