I'm on my 3rd home brew, and plan to keep chuggin out 5 gallons every 2-4 weeks or so, but I still have just as much desire to buy 6 packs of flying dog, new belgiums, dogfish heads, etc...

does your homebrew satisfy all of you beer needs, or do you still buy retail beers?

Just curious.

An inventory of my beer fridge:

Weat - will bottle in about 20 days.

I think I may run out of room!!

Wow that is some impressive list you got there. I'd be happy to come over and help you drink some of that to make room for your homebrew if you'd like. Here's my list, but in all honesty, I only have this much because I'm having a Bar-b-que this weekend. I usually go through them pretty fast and don't have much in stock.

House Fridge Micro:
Abita Party Pack - 1
Flying Dog Mixed Pack - 1
Flying Dog Gonzo Porter - 2
Sierra Nevada Porter - 6
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot - 3
Unibroue La Fin Du Monde - 2
Unibroue Trois Pistols - 1

May the Schwartz Beer With You - 8 1L

Outside Brewery Fridge (Future Kegerator):
Slam Dunkle (Kegged)
Jail Bail Pale Ale (Kegged)
Dumb Blonde Ale - 25 22oz

i love to have the variety.. as you know, those mix packs are great, abita and flying dog i have in mine.. that accounts for a lot of those singles. I buy the michelob, boulevard, shiner and new belgium varieties on occasion as well.

I'll have to do an inventory tonight when I get home, but last time I checked I had 68 commercial beers in my fridge. I still occasionally notice that I'll have a greater selection than the better bars around here.

Can't think of quatities offhand (since they change on a regular basis!) but in the fridge I've got...

Avery Ellie's Brown Ale
Ayinger Celebrator
Bison Chocolate Stout
Blue Moon Rising Moon
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Durango Brewing Wheat
Firehouse Brewing APA
Kona Wailua Wheat
Lagunitas Imperial Stout
Lagunitas Pilsner
Lost Coast Alleycat
Lost Coast Downtown Brown
Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat
New Belgium 1554
New Belgium Fat Tire
New Belgium Skinny Dip
Newcastle Brown
Samuel Smiths Nut Brown
Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Steelhead Extra Pale
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout

Two growlers - Damnation from Russian River, and Pitch Black Porter from Snowshoe.

And yes. There's Bud Lite with Lime in there too - the wife-demanded "beer".

Here it is in all it's glory:

(Bonus points for spotting the mash tun on top!) And open, showing the goodies inside...

I don't have a dedicated beer fridge, so my space is quite limited. At any given time I've usually got maybe 4-5 commercial beers and a similar variety of homebrews stocked in mine.

Currently I have:

Commercial:
Angel City IPA
Avery Collaboration Not Litigation
Deschutes Inversion IPA
Hoegaarden
New Belgium Skinny Dip
New Belgium Mothership Wit

Homebrew:
Drunken IPA
Pale Ale Experiment
Strawberry Alarm Clock v3
Tres Equis v2
Wit Zombie

My wife likes wits so I generally have a bunch of commercial variants sitting around. We have half a bunch of Hoegaarden in addition to the ones in the fridge, and a whole unopened box of Lost Coast Great White.

You guys make me pine for the day when I can buy a house and build my basement bar. My fridge has 0 beers! But that will change when my latest brew is "done" conditioning, probably tomorrow.

Hmm...I think I was addicted to buying new beers for a while...I would go to Binnys and tell myself, "just 1 six pack"...I'd walk out with 3 usually haha. My buddy goes with me most of the time and it's not uncommon for us to walk out with 6-8 six packs that we have not had before. I cut back recently so I've got:

New Belgium Fat tire
Bass
Pizza Beer
Red Hook Longhammer IPA
Red Hook Sunrye Summer Ale
Killians (for the lady)
Bear Republic Racer 5
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
Arcadia Jaw Jacker
Sand Creek Wild Ride IPA
Two Brothers The Bitter End
Victory Hop Devil
Sam Adams Pale Ale
LaRossa
Harpoon IPA
Big Sky IPA
Backdraft Brown Ale
Bells Oberon
Bells Pale Ale
Bells Amber Ale

Homebrew:
Jaskin IPA
My IPA
IPA
Octoberfest
Fat Tire Clone
Honey Kolsch
Cream Ale (NB kit)
Dank's Wheat Beer

And in the keezer...half a keg of My Strong Honey Blonde Ale.
That's all I can remember off-hand. About 1-3 of any given type listed above.

And a note to Kyleobie; you don't need a house, I live in an apartment and all this except the keg is in the fridge. I like to cook so I buy fresh ingredients almost daily so I really don't store much food in my fridge. And if you are determined enough, you will stick a chest freezer in your dining room just so you can have kegs on tap lol. I go at this hobby full force.

I don't have a dedicated beer fridge yet and we're getting ready to move so my inventory is low right now:

4 of my Oberon Clones
2 of my Cream Ales
2 of my Amber Ales
1 New Belgium 1554
4 Heavy Seas Loose Cannon
3 Great Lakes Commodore Perry
1 Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
1 Sam Adams Octoberfest

theman.. how is that fat tire clone, is it from austinhomebrew? I have it my cart right now.. trying to decide.

Yeh I have all my detailed info because I recently decided to keep track of what I buy and whether or not I like it. It's in excel. I also have columns for abv, ibu's and beer type:)

I'm an excel nerd, if it can be made into a chart, I will do it. This worksheet is in same file as my batch notes. Each batch has its own worksheet with all info: amounts, prices, dates, boiling times, etc..

Then another worksheet has a running tab of all the equipment I've purchased.

All this in 1 file named beer.xls:)

My inventory is rather low right now. I have several boxes of beers hidden in my garage from random six packs that I would rather not remember. I had to hide them so I could convince SWMBO that another trip to binny's was needed.

I will list what's in the mystery boxes when I get home lol

metaltim that is not that nerdy at all ......... me any two other friends have a live google brewing calendar that we update with important brewing dates. It is complete with when girlfriend's work and other important information

We also have a live inventory in excel and brew recipe database lol

metaltim, I took a bunch of Fat Tire Clone recipes and made my own from them...I have not compared the two side by side, but I don't think it's the greatest clone of it, and I don't think it's quite conditioned yet. I can't vouch for the AH kit...I can tell you what doesn't work though lol. Don't get me wrong, my brew tastes great...just not like Fat Tire.

Yeast Infection and I have live brew conferences while at work we can watch the other person edit spreadsheets and chat realtime...nothing takes precidence over beer.

In my fridge...(West Coast selections thanks to caspio):

Caspio's IPA
Pliny the Elder
Lagunitas IPA
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye
Green Flash Imperial IPA
Bell's Two-Hearted Ale
Old Rasputin RIS
Bluegrass Brewing Co. Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout
Leinenkugel's Apple Spice (how'd that get in there??)
Rogue Shakespeare Stout
my American Wheat/Rye

Currently in BeerFRIDGE the Second.

3 Gallons - Hefeweizen ( On Tap )

Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat
Asahi Super Dry
Kirin Ichiban
Sapporo Reserve
Widmer OKTO
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Deschutes Mirror Mirror

<------------- Jealous, I can't wait to have my own " beer fridge" in a garage/basement/bar/bathroom.... I have two Belgian Wit and a Miller High Life in my parents fridge.... When I get back to school the selection will improve.

I drink 98% homebrew. My sig is what I have besides a few stragglers. That better bottle of Oktoberfest in the back of the fridge looks tasty. I almost want to pick it up and take a swig, but it's Schwarz for now.

Big thanks to my loving wife for typing this in about 3 less days than it would have taken me.

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 09
Deschutes Twilight
Deschutes Black Butte XXI
Lost Coast Stout
Dead Guy
Alaskan White

and probably a few other odds and ends.

I'm at a low right now.

hound dog that's what I'm talking about.. You've given me motivation to make another trip spec's today.. maybe pick up another 6pack or two and some 22oz. singles.

A Spec's (liquor/beer store) is 2 miles from my house, they have the entire back wall (about 50 feet) of cold beer, and BMC is only the left 1/3 or so.. then another 40 feet or so on left wall of room temp 6packs and singles, all craft, no BMC. I spend 20 minutes sometimes trying to pick something out.

variety is indeed the spice of life.

Binny's is like your Spec's it sounds like...pretty much heaven on Earth. I spend far too much time deciding on a six pack when I go...there are so many choices.

I keeps the craft beers around for reasearch reasons. I am currently researching,

Abita AndyGator
Leffe Blonde
Petrus Bruin
FD Double Dog
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter
Old Foghorn
Modelo Especial
Melbourne Frambosen
SA Imperial White
McEwans IPA
Guiness 250
Beamish Stout
Younge Double Choc

I get 2 shelves in "my" dedicated beer fridge. One is for glass, the other is for beer. the rest is candy, juice, and fruit.

Not sure how that happened.

I like to try new beer, and keep a large variety for others to try and broaden their horizons. I am very proud of my fridge, but I'm pretty sure I missed a few because it's a bit of a mess right now. I had to move some beer to the main fridge a few weeks ago to have room to crash cool a beer that didn't want to clear. I need to reorganize it this weekend.

So this inspired me to take a picture of my fridge.

Jonathan_s_Camera_091.JPG

And I had missed a few. There's actually something like 86 different beers in there.

And if you're trying to count, some bottles are hidden behind others, and some are in the overflow dorm fridge.

right now kind of low....

just wiped out the following

terapin rye pale ale
new belgium skinny dip
new belgium 1554
sam adams variety pack

Currently have 3 bells cherry stout for the store bought.

around 50 berry golden ale
2 cases of belgian quad
2 cases of vanilla bourbon porter
2 cases of brown ale

Dragonsmilk
Indian Brown Ale by DFH
about 10 random dubbels as research for the next batch
random stouts
my brews
EDIT: SWMBO brought home more stouts, yea!

I rarely buy beer. Me and the girlfriend will buy a 6 pack or 2 every once and a while. She got Dogfish Head Aprihop and I got the Immort Ale last time. There is one each in the fridge, along with everything that's in the bottled and kegged portion of my signature.

Big thanks to my loving wife for typing this in about 3 less days than it would have taken me.

That is quite the list my friend, judging by the local brews from NC, I assume you are somewhere near Asheville.

I've got a bunch of homebrews in the fridge right now:
6 Bastard Clones
12 1st try Pale ales
2 Too young Russian Imperial stouts

but I've got a few aging:
2 750ml Sweetwater Festive
2 750ml Happy Ending
4 pack Burton Baton
etc

Glad some people from the South like good beer. Its sometimes hard to find somebody to "talk shop" with

Actually I'm in Chattanooga. One of my best friends lives in Pittsboro, a bit south of Chapel Hill.

Actually I'm in Chattanooga. One of my best friends lives in Pittsboro, a bit south of Chapel Hill.

Thats cool, I have a ton of family in Ringgold. Are there any good breweries/brewpubs up that way?

And I haven't had Terrapin's Monk's Madness, but I like the Monk's Revenge, ;) though not as much as Stone Cali Belg. Those Stone Brews are excellent, and your DFH collection is on point.

Wow the swmbo has nothing to nag me about after seeing this thread. She says that I don't need to buy more beer when I have so much at home already.

Thats cool, I have a ton of family in Ringgold. Are there any good breweries/brewpubs up that way?

Well there's a new brewpub in town called the Terminal. Some of their beer is good, and the rest, well, not so much. There is also another small brewery in town called the Moccasin Bend Brewery. I've only tried one MB beer, because it is the only on I've ever seen. It is a juniper pale ale, and to be honest it tastes like bud heavy with a little bit of juniper. If you're ever going to be in town shoot me a pm.

32 pints of homebrew (IPA) are putting a hurtin' on the top-shelf of the extra fridge.
