I hope you all don't mind me picking your brain a bit. I'm going to be in the L.A. area for business and I'll have the weekend of December 7-8 free. Of course, I'll be looking to check out the local brews, breweries, etc. What's the one thing you wouldn't miss? I'll have a car and don't have accommodations arranged yet so anywhere within a few hours drive will do for me. I'm all ears...plan my trip!

I would recommend visiting The Bruery in Placentia. It's probably under an hour drive from L.A. and a must visit if you like sour beers.

I just visited the Bruery a couple weekends ago for the first time, and it was great. The tour there is very homebrewer friendly too. More of a "walk around the brewery and ask questions" kind of tour than a step-by-step explanation of the brewing process (like Anheiser Busch). They also pour you samples throughout the tour.

Flights in the tasting room are inexpensive, and it's a nice setup for hanging out (board games, TVs, etc.). I'd get there before 2 if you're going on a Saturday though, as it gets pretty crowded in the tasting room and the signup for a tour may be full for a couple hours.

Valiant brewing is a awesome nano brew spot with a nice tasting room in the middle of the brewery. They always have something amazing on tap.
