I'm no atheist scientist, but...
So, formulating a Maibock, going to use Wyeast Bohemian (2124?). OG 1.069
went to mrmalty calculator, and it gave me 6.6 liters using 2 packs.
1. really? 6.6 liters of starter? i don't have the capacity to even to that, unless i start rinsing out some milk cartons. anybody ever do this? seems like a very bad idea.
2. Is that telling me to make 6.6 liters of starter, then just pitch the slurry, or pitch the whole 6.6 liters?
3. Should I step it up to 6.6 liters over the week, or just pitch my activator into 6.6 liters of wort?
4. Two packs? I thought part of the reason to make a starter was to avoid double-pitching. Why two packs?
thanks
